More About MSA Maps
MSA Maps represent the major market areas defined by the US Census and the Office of Management and Budget. In 2003, the OMB redefined MSAs to include more areas - smaller markets as well as larger markets - to create core based statistical areas (CBSAs). Although the definition and name changed, everyone still calls then MSAs (metropolitan statistical areas)

Our MSA maps are actually CBSA maps, to reflect the most current definitions. For almost all of the old MSAs, the CBSA definitions cover the same counties. But now more markets are included.
MSA maps can be used to target marketing at a macro level. Since CBSAs (and the old MSAs) are combinations of counties, a nationwide map of MSAs is the best way to visualize them.
